Temps finally broke out of the 30's today, making the weather perfect for a trip to the park.

1st day diaper free
Today is the first day I've dared to keep Hannah in underpants all day... even through her naptime. She only had one accident after dinner, and she just happened to be on her step stool in the bathroom when she "leaked" right through her and made a puddle. I'm losing track of time, but in at least the last 3 weeks, we've changed one poopy diaper. And she is not constipated.
If she's not completely trained by the time she visits her cousin Junanana in a couple of weeks, I suspect Aunt Becca will finish the process if she's ready.
Now to get up the nerve to go out of the house without diaper...

experiments
Today's "science projects":
- Hannah wanted to plant tangerine seeds in the dirt to see if they'll grow.
- I showed her ice in the gutter tray, and explained that when water gets very cold it turns to ice. She picked it up and began sucking on it. Don't worry, I didn't let her keep sucking. I told her it was dirty, and she said ,"yucky!"
- We cut a piece of aloe of the plant and put "lotion" on our hands and lips. We also added some dirt/coffee grounds to the pot because the roots were beginning to show.

Photos and Thoughts
"cheese!!!" (i know it looks like peek-a-boo. but that's not what she was saying.)One of the most exciting things for me is that I think on some level, she understands there is a baby in my belly. Tonight she pointed to her framed ultrasound photos on the wall above her bed, and she said, "in mommy's tummy!" She occasionally talks about her brother or sister, or sometimes brother AND sister, and last night after she kicked me in the stomach as I tried to get her to settle down at bedtime, she became very apologetic, lifted up my shirt, and kissed my belly. "I'm sorry Mama. Baby so sweet." I almost felt bad for scolding her for kicking me and not settling down. Almost, but only for a fleeting moment.

spanglish
Hannah-Bear was playing with her toy food this afternoon. She balanced an orange on a spoon, tried to put it in my mouth, and said, "oopey la boca!"
"Abre la boca" means "Open your mouth" in Spanish.
She's also quite taken with my small collection of Spanish videos... Scooby Doo, Toy Story, and Mickey Mouse's "Prince and the Pauper."

1st "class"
today was our first kindermusik class! hannah was a little shy, but i think she'll enjoy it. when we pulled up to the building, she immediately noticed the thespian masks on one of the signs on the building. she saw the ribbons behind the masks and thought they were spider legs. "spider's sad, mama!"
during the class, her favorite songs included the rhythm sticks and jingle bells. she also loved the dancing time, of course.
as we drove away, she begged, "more singing time?!?" hopefully she'll be excited to go back next week.

introducing our fishie
if you read my mommy's blog, you have already seen this. but mommy thought i should get to tell my friends that i'm going to be a big sister soon!
when mommy showed me the picture of the baby in her belly, i had two reactions. "fishie!" and ""oh, how cute!!!"

tonight, during story time, there was a baby in one of my picture books. i lifted up mommy's shirt and pat her tummy. "baby so sweet!"
my cuteness worked... mommy rocked me in the rocking chair an extra 30 minutes after bedtime tonight. she says i won't fit on her lap in a few months, so she's cuddling as much as she can now!

honesty
i was putting on hannah's diaper in preparation for bedtime, and she would not stop reaching down "there".
"what are you doing?" i asked her.
"touching my butt." she replied nonchalantly, as if to imply, "duh, mom."
alrighty, then...

we celebrated new year's with aunt sara and uncle grant, papa and gramma, & caslon the fluffy white kitty. i had not been to s & g's house since i was 3 months old.
a public service announcement (sort of)
we interrupt this walk down memory lane to inform you that it has been a whole week since we changed a poopy diaper. somebody is using the potty more and more! she doesn't ask to go most of the time but she does hold her #2 until given the potty-tunity.

new phrase
"Go away!"
Used when someone is sitting on the potty and wants her privacy while she "reads" her books and hopefully does her "task".
Also used in the evening after being told that 4 lullabies is enough, and no, Mommy or Daddy cannot fit in her toddler bed with her.

Naughty streak
Tonight Hannah dumped the remains of her soup on the floor (just the solids, she slurped up the broth). I made her pick them up.
Then, hurricane Hannah hit in the bathroom while I was emptying the garbage cans. The toys were all on the floor, and the baseboards were soaked. I caught the flow with a towel just before it reached the carpet outside the door. It took at least 6 towels to mop up the lake. Bath-time ended soon after.
