Garage-Sale Treasure!!!
I got to go to the Post Office by myself this morning. Mrs. Sharon asked where my little one was, and laughed when I said, "home with Daddy!" Since I had a little time to myself, I decided to see if there were any Garage Sales in the area. I drove past some new neighborhoods... no signs at the entrances, so I kept going. I made a circle back toward my house, and saw a sign in front of one of the older homes with a long driveway. I saw other cars there, plenty of space to turn around... I couldn't resist.
A small child's table immediately caught my eye. I had checked to see how much cash I had, as I don't normally have much with me. The price was fair, but it was a garage sale, and half the fun of garage saleing is seeing what kind of bargains you can get. Plus, we are on a budget. I asked if they would take $5 off the asking price, and they did!!! Yay!!!!
It didn't matter that the table was painted a little more boyish. The size was perfect. It will fit upstairs in the bonus room, and Hannah fell in love with it as soon as the chairs were set on the driveway. She got mad when we took them inside, but her anger was short-lived.
She has been playing at it for 10 minutes already.

20 months

on her 20 month "birthday".
The first 2 were taken by my Dad; Hannah loved the swing that hangs under the grape arbor, and she also loved playing with GranWendy's tiny sunflower tea set.
In the 3rd photo, She was smiling at Grandma, who was also taking a picture.
Oh, and I have to share one more story from that day. Shortly after we arrived, Hannah and I put our stuff inside the house and started calling "hello". Nobody came. We stepped out front, and a minute later Mom came around the corner from the garden, with a basket of fresh produce. (Yum!) Hannah ran up to my Mom and wrapped her arms around her legs, then gave her a kiss when her Grandma stooped to her eye-level. My eyes welled with tears.
A few minutes later, when GranDaddy appeared she reached for GranWendy again when he asked for a hug.

new words
Hannah's new favorite word seems to be "stuck". This morning, she stuck her sandal-clad foot into her potty, and exclaimed, "I stuck!" when she could not get it out of the bowl insert. Then, as she tired of sitting in the seat of the shopping cart, she started saying, "buckle. stuck!" Of course, sometimes the "t" sound is not that obvious, just like she has a hard time with the "l" sound in other words... which makes her sound like a sailor sometimes. Or a metro police officer.

"watch this!"
We were at our friends' house tonight, and Hannah was playing in their daughter's room with the big girls. I went up to check on them, and Hannah was playing with dolls. The next thing I knew, she walked over to the ladder to the girl's upper bunk, said "ladder" and began her climb. She made it up 3 rungs before slipping a little with me to catch her. When Daddy came up to see, he asked her if she i a firefighter, and she exclaimed "farfar". Then she said "watch this" and kept climbing. Her 2nd favorite toy was Claire's big kitchen, complete with wooden veggies, fruits, and condiments. She played with it by herself for 10-15 minutes while the big girls were watching Bella Ballerina and dancing their hearts out.
She fell asleep in the car on the way home tonight. After trying to keep up with all the big kids, she was so tired. She awoke briefly on the changing table, and hasn't made an audible sound since Daddy set her in her crib.

mixed signals
Hanah has been chanting "potty" or "poo-poo" much more frequently.. so much so that her nursery teachers were wondering if she's begun the training process yet.
Unfortuately, she will only sit on her potty with her clothes on when she deems fit.

this evening, daddy, hannah & i were playing a round of "what noise does that make?" or "what does ____ say?" (i don't remember who asked what until the very end, so "us" will suffice).

visitors
Cousin Jonathan was in town again, so GranWendy, Grandaddy, cousin Juliana and Aunt Becca came over for a potluck dinner. Here are some photos of the fun! Cousin Juliana & Aunt Becca spent the night, so the girls were able to play together some more this morning. Right after her cousin left, Hannah said, "More Yana".

good morning, Mommy!
When I went into get our little Baby Bear out of her crib, I noticed her very wet diaper was next to her in herc crib. Amazingly enough, no "leaks" elsewhere, and it was just wet.. whew!!! Guess that's a risk of wearing a nightgown instead of shorts, but she just looks so cute in her gown! And it's great for twirling!

The Babymoon is over....
and the terrible twos seem to have begun.
Today's tantrums caused by:
I know what you're thinking: Welcome to reality, Mommy dearest.
Today's tantrums caused by:
- the end of bubble time- she almost rolled off the front porch in an angry fit when she didn't like the way I was blowing bubbles.
- not getting crackers to eat, after choosing not to eat lunch
- possible teething
I know what you're thinking: Welcome to reality, Mommy dearest.

new word
Usually, if we ask our little girl to say her name, she says, "no." This afternoon I asked her if she can say Hannah, and she said, "Hah-nah".

she remembers
Last night, as I showed Cousin J. the aerial photo of Gramma M.'s farm, Hannah pointed to it and said, "Gramma!"

gramma's influence
Last night, I made a couple of pots of Folgers. The first was to see if I could mke a homemade Caramel Frappucino instead of forking out $4 at the chain coffee place down the street. Stale Folgers is not a substitute for Starbucks, just as Starbucks is no substitute for my mother-in-law's coffee. (or brother-in-law's for that matter).
As soon as she noticed what I was doing, Hannah began chanting her version for "coffee" (coincidentally, it's a Spanish swear word, so we have to work on that). Then she said, "More!"
This morning as I cut up canteloupe for Breakfast, she pointed toward the coffee grinder and pot and did the same thing. We were only at her Gramma's a week in May but the daily coffee ritual apparently made a big impact on her. Gramma must have slipped her a sip when I wasn't looking!
