expanding vocabulary

after i locked the gate at the top of the stairs
(which hannah insisted on slamming until i did lock it,
as i was between her and the top step, anyway),
hannah immediately saw her stuffed kitty, exclaimed "cat!",
crawled to her beloved toy and picked it up.
