midnight scare

Hannah awoke suddenly at midnight, with a deep, painful sounding cough and darth-vaderish breathing. Her underarm temp was also slightly high, and she felt hot and clammy. This was so not like our daughter. She had seemed perfectly normal when she went to sleep.

We took her to the ER, where she was diagnosed with croup and given a steroid to open up her airways. She was released quickly, but we were glad it was something easily treatable.

It was her first time in the hospital (for herself) since she was born; thankfully a quick visit. She'll be seeing her doctor for her 2 year check-up and follow up this week.

Here's a picture of her after she fell asleep on daddy's lap yesterday afternoon. (That's a very rare occurance):

"food" for thought?

Perhaps allowing Hannah the occasional treat has slowly made her more picky... or perhaps she is entering the picky toddler phase... in any case, her consumption rate has slowed down drastically the last couple of days. Lots of water, milk, and juice, but she just won't touch much food....

p.s....turns out she had her first bout of tummy troubles in a LONG time. No puking, but when I picked her up from her nap I had a small mess to clean up... that hasn't happened since she was a newborn. Whatever it was seems to be out of her system... she ate a good dinner with lots of rice and veggies, and had a snack of canteloupe for supper.

The Sickie Family

Hannah-bear has shared whatever bug she fought last weekend with both of her parents. So now Daddy and I are coughing and using kleenex like crazy. She crashed at 7 p.m., even after sleeping from 2:30-4:30, so I have a feeling I'll be up sometime in the middle of the night.... But she wouldn't be comforted, and she scooted across the bonus room floor toward the stairs, crying as if to say "get me out of here!"

She quieted down as soon as her Daddy laid her in the crib. Sweet dreams, little one.
